Winter/Spring/Winter/repeat. Right now it's Sunny Winter but above Freezing at Night, which is a Good Thing because I forgot to bring in the plants I'm Hardening off last night. Looked fine(so far;>).
I've had a couple nice surprises; plants I thought had died last yr or in the case of the Trilliums and Dutchmen's Breeches 2. No blooms on either but one of the Trilliums has a bud. I'd planted two species when I moved here(Painted and grandiflora) and the survivors all look to be the same species so...
Filling up the raised beds and windowboxes with more soil. They've eroded/washed out over the last 2 yrs and are down 1/3 to 1/2. Tomorrow I'll lift the remaining plants and save some Hardy Geranium seedlings that have sprouted. Should be Interesting since the plants still there and those that died out are 3 species and one hybrid(Derrick Cook). It should be easy to find any that crossed with the hybrid since it has Purple leaves;>!
One of the plants I thought had died last yr was a Wallflower. Actually it looks like more than one survived from the same jiffy pot since one is Gold with Black veins and the other is bright Yellow. I also thought I'd lost my Anchusa last Summer. It's Biannual and died last Summer and I couldn't find any seeds to save. I guess Mother Nature did;>!
The seedlings that are Hardening off are Snapdragons and Clary Sage. I have about 12 Native Wildflowers started, some like the Nodding Sage and White Liatris didn't make it past germinating. About 2/3 of them are Penstemon and Aster species.
