We had to put “Ethyl the Wonder Dachshund” down today. She was at least 17 and had many Health problems. She was a fixture at many local campouts and gatherings, known for her “dogged” Insistance to barge into a campsite with little kids and watch them. She could have lasted a couple of months more but we have a family reunion and no Petsitter was going to grind up her meds and get her to eat it twice a day(not to mention her eyedrops). I understand this but other than losing a fuzzy companion is the fact that the procedure didn’t go well.
They 1st couldn’t get a vein and the digging made her scream. They then gave her a Sedative and tried again. Again, they didn’t get the full dose and she was now alive but gasping for air(and Bleeding from the original site). Finally, they just Injected it right into her heart. Needless to say, Boo-Boo is NEVER going to these people for ANYTHING!
She’s buried on the other side of the fence from her daughter(who was Euthanized for Cancer before we got Boo-Boo and so before his out door run) under a Fig tree with an Angel’s Trumpet to mark so I don’t Accidentally dig her up some day….
Troth,
Pat
