You might have been lucky enough to catch this Adult Humour Anime on Cartoon Network's 'Adult Swim' last yr. If you weren't, both seasons are out on DVD(there will only be 2 since the Creator died recently).'SC' is hard to describe. The best(though poor) would be if 'South park' and 'The Simpsons' married and were Japanese.
'Shin Chan'follows the adventures of the students, family and staff of 'Happy Funtime American School'. Just like in some older American cities you have French Academies, in Japan you'll find American, though as the Latino Principal of the school points out, "It's not called 'Happy Funtime NORTH American School', now, is it?";>. Shin is a scary combo of Bart Simpson and Cartman....even his mother calls him "The Devil Child". The teachers all have Secret Identities as Costumed Super Heroes(one is 'The Pink Pussy';>).Like 'TS' and 'SP' there is a cartoon show within called 'Action Bastard'which satirizes the whole 'Power Rangers'-type genre, including a barely Pubescent sidekick that makes comments about how Inapropriate her age, garments and activities are.
On DVD you'll at least get bits pixelated out by American Censors. The Japanese aren't as erotisized and Americans about nudity and so Shin's "Elephant Dance" to amuse his baby sister will make more sense when you see that he's drawn eyes and ears above is pecker so the trunk swings when he dances;>
Stereotypes about about Japanese, Japanese women, Americans, Latinos, Gays, Lesbians etc. One of my fave characters is the son of a high powered American businessman who imports Mexicans as "Help" because the Japanese demand Pay, Dignity and Benefits.....
